Amy Speace got pregnant for the first time at 49 and had her son, Huck, a month after she turned 50. Searching for community, she found an empty internet void and very little information about women her own age becoming mothers. Except for Janet Jackson and that congresswoman Tammy Duckworth-something. And possibly Julia Roberts but she's not sure if that's a rumor. So she started writing about her own experience, which was both commonly normal and singularly extraordinary, as all pregnancy and birth stories are. Amy Speace lives in Nashville, TN with her husband and her son and their very skittish hound. She is a singer and songwriter and essayist. She also leads workshops on Performance and Songwriting around the US. She hasn't slept in a year or so.
